So! My friend and I have got a dilemma. He got a 93 ranger, and it needs a new clutch and slave cylinder ( it's down there too :/) So we coughed up $150 and got both. Well Friday and Saturday we spent taking it out and replacing the parts to put it back in. We are almost done, but we are getting in trouble with the stupid ass high pressure clutch line. It WILL NOT go back into the slave cylinder female adapter. We didn't change anything on the male adapter we just switched slave cylinders and now it won't click into place. We have exhausted every route we can take to get it on, but we can't get it into place. It's quite frustrating

This is the slave cylinder from rock auto. It's for the 93 ranger with the 3.0 motor, Manuel transmission.

I replaced just my slave in my 89 bronco 2 and could not get it to snap in no matter what, turns out they gave me a newer slave. I ended up just swapping out the master and line for the newer model. Worked just fine then.

Do you think that could be our problem?

they can build pressure in the line, thatll keep it from opening the quick connect valve on the end. make sure the pedal is all the way at the top of the travel, maybe try lifting it up as you push the line into place. you can also try opening the bleeder on the slave, but if it's dry, it shouldnt make any difference. is it a pre-bled slave?

Yeah, it's a pre bled one. However we took the bleeder valve off due to that theory

I'd measure the inner diameter of the slave cylinder connection versus the same measurement on the old slave cylinder...you will probably need to use a caliper to get an accurate measurement, not a tape measure.

I have had a ton of trouble getting them hooked up on several occasions. Seems like they almost always fight me - the o ring gets damaged and I have to redo it several times, or I just have to push really, really hard and sometimes having a vice grip hooked onto the hose helps to have something to push against.

Then again sometimes they just go in really easy. I can't really think of many things that I dislike assembling more than Ford clutch hoses, they're right up there with cactus massages and drowning.

Second recommendation to meaure it if you can as Shran suggested. When I replaced the line on my 94 I had a similar issue (because I used an explorer slave) and found out the ends were slightly different. IIRC the ends were different colors if that matters.
