Good morning. l found this forum trying to decipher a VIN sticker from an 07 Ranger l recently purchased. My first Ranger too. l have not had a pickup for about 10 yrs. l need one to clean up around the place because l'm OLD! l started looking for little trucks a couple months ago. Decided on an older small truck like ME. After searching all over the country for a descent used Ranger this one fell out the sky locally. Tis an ExtraCab, 3litre V6/5 sp manual. lts very clean with low mileage @ 77,000. l had my Doctor/mechanic check it out, said l had chosen a winner. ln the body shop getting some dents smoothed out presently. Before going to the shop l put around 300 miles on my first fill-up. l realized that this a GREAT truck. lts my first American truck in about 25 yrs. Back then l had a couple S10s and a Dakota in quick succession. l ran from that Dakota into the arms of a 98 Nissan for 11 yrs. Then another Nissan for a couple yrs. So, why did l choose a Ranger? First off, my DR/mechanic is a Ford man. His boss is a Ford man. My DADDY was a Ford man. A new one was out of the question. They cost more than my house. My step son had a Mazda(Ranger) 3000 with almost 250K on it before it got killed from being t-boned. lf it could survive him and his wife it could survive ANYTHING!! Now lts me and the Bird in a Ranger

Welcome to the club. I too have a Nissan affliction along with a Ranger affection.

Welcome!

And if you think that you're old, I had a Datsun truck once upon a time.

Sounds like you made a good score. Glad to hear that you like the Ranger, and you're certainly in the right place for kindred spirits.

OK, I'll bite -- what's with the Bird Man and the Bird in a Ranger?
You're not a Pirate are you?

From one old guy to another, "Welcome to TRS!"

Welcome to the site. Any pictures? We like pictures.

Congratulations on the new truck, but it's a Supercab, not an extra cab.

l never thought of myself that way Rumble.. But you are right about the bird. l have a red and green Macaw named Chloe. l only have ONE eye.
Should have called myself Pirate Ranger l guess. This is off subject. But you asked. My wife and l have 2 Rescue Birds from a friend killed by a drunk driver.
Chloe is red and green female Macaw. Pepper is a huge yellow and blue male. Pepper is an ornery old cuss of about 35 yrs. Mad at the world because his first owner died when he was 30. Pulled all his feathers out in grief. Runs around NAKED. Chloe has bonded to me. Sits on my shoulder almost everywhere l go.
We took the birds in because the lady who was killed had 2 small children. DSS became involved with the children. Everyone is Safe. Kids are with Grandparents. Birds are with US!!

Welcome to the club.

I had a seeling there was a parrot involved. Tough story. Sorry for the loss. Again, welcome.

The kids are doing fine Rumble. Birds too. Macaws are very SMART. Only pet l know of that can call you by NAME. An eerie feeling for me the first time l ever touched Chloe. She crawled up on the arm of my chair one day. She just sat there with that big beak that can take your finger off(app1200psi). We are the greatest of friends. Bonded stronger than any animal l have had.

I used to have a small Bebe parrot, so I am somewhat familiar with their antics and loyalty. He was always on my shoulder. And he was shoulder trained - if he had to go, he would poke my ear or cheek and that was the signal.

Congratulations on the new truck, but it's a Supercab, not an extra cab.
What is the CSRA?
Central Savannah River Area.
Augusta, Ga.
SuperCab-Always thought those were SuperDuty F250-F350
My 07 Ranger has an area behind the front seat, but NO jump seats. l don't see holes/brackets where there ever were any either. No seatbelt hangar holes either. lt took me forever to find the jack and lug wrench. Twas hiding in a hole behind the passenger seat covered by a plastic panel. Still not familiar with the truck. lt may have the towing pkg. There is a receiver hitch that's frame mounted. l don't see a wiring harness.
This Ranger handles TOTALLY different from the last American truck l had. My 97 S10 was a death trap. l got rid of it as soon as l could find a dealer to buy it. l was not going to be responsible for selling it to a private owner. Bought NEW, This S10 was a 2.1litre 4cyl. 5sp manual extra cab. Great gas mileage, smooth ride. almost like a full size sedan. Nice handling as long as the road was dry. On a wet road it was DANGEROUS. Fishtail, wheel hop were the norm for a wet road. Thing SCARED me. l grew up in the 60s when they made really powerful cars. l had a few too! Anyway, l took the S10 to the Chevy dealer. He said they were ALL like that. l haven't driven my Ranger in the rain yet. We Will See

I worked at a dealer form 75- 2017 and never heard a complaint about traction in the rain. For a few years many Rangers came the Goodyear RSA's that were allegedly all terrains but were helpless in the snow.
Supercabs have extra room behind the seats some had 2 doors, some had 4 doors with the back 2 being narrower and backward opening, crew cabs have 4 doors and usually 2 bench seats- to transport the crew.
