Hi from Alabama!

Yeah. Gotta know the generation of the Ranger. I think most here consider 83-88 was one 89-92 then 93-97 and 98+. There were lots of changes inside that, but those are the big ones. They are visible from across the junkyard.

Thanks for the help SenorNoob.

This is in your town:

FAGAN'S Auto Parts

The only door panels they list online say MWML which I'm guessing is manual windows manual locks.

You are kinda in the middle of nowhere there. 90 miles to Birmingham or Atlanta. Makes me thankful Nashville is only an hour away. I have 3 yards there,1 in Lebanon, and 1 in Lavergne all at about the same travel time. Lavergne is slightly farther.

Last time I was there they basically didn’t seem like they wanted any business. They have a sign inside that basically says if you don’t like our prices or our business model go elsewhere. And they have never had anything I was looking for. They are pretty much the big towing company in the area and they make a killing already. I have honestly never even seen anyone there except the people that work there.

Good info Mindcrime.

2 pieces of info for you doug, etc anyone interested..
93 was the start of the 3 generation right, well in 95 Ford did an interior facelift (single din radio became double din, etc) - I am pretty sure the door panels changed too, which is why 93-94 is a unique no interchange 2 year run.

As far as generations go, Jim Oaks (the owner of the site) did an excellent job of detailing just what every generation is. And like every major manufacturer out there when the sheetmetal changes it is called a new generation. Except in 89 when Ford changed the sheetmetal, they called that an "exterior face lift" . So Ford, wiki, every joe schmoe with a keyboard who wants to write an article for track and field copies each other and wiki and calls the first gen 83-92. I would argue only us, the members of TRS know what's correct.

There is a whole huge section of TRS that is neither forum nor tech library, it is the articles section...

I always thought 89-92 then 93-94 then 95-01
I bought these door panels because the add said 95-01 and they were compatible. I unpinned the window switches on the late model panels thinking I could re-pin my wiring to those. If I had manual windows/locks it would be simple. I just can’t afford new doors and really hate messing with door swaps. I prefer manual windows myself but I got the truck for $1000 so I can’t really complain.

Shran told me to keep an eye out for '93-94 interior door panels in my "unicorn parts" thread and I get why, but they aren't that unique... I could have walked you to a set of tan and a set of grey the day I started that thread (at this point though someone who wanted the speakers has trashed em getting in behind em, plus it has snowed and melted and snowed and melted)....

I know you can put 2nd gen door cards on 1st gen doors and vice versa... and someone said you can take em to 3rd gen if you drill out the X's pre-marked for holes. I always thought that 93-94 could be replaced with 95-97 if a guy wasn't hung up about styling.
Are you still hungup on pinout/wiring or is there an interference issue with the wider dash or?

Maybe I should have joined the forum sooner… so I need panels from a 95-97? Cause there are no 93-94’s that I could find worth buying. Actually I never found any power versions.

I got to update my phone. I'll look in once it's done.

The panels will work. It’s the window switches that I’m not sure about. I have to remove the bracket that the arm rest screws to and use those holes to mount these panels because they screw straight into door as opposed to down into that L bracket. At least that’s what I thought.

so if you use the 95-97 door cards and switches... what issue is there (other than the work of the connector head possibly being different and having to grab a connector at the junkyard and re-pin)

does your switch look like this? (go to 2nd pic in gallery for the back side of the switch)

Per O'Reilly that is 93-95... don't know why that is listed like that unless ford did 2 redesigns one in 95 everyone knows about and one in 96 I've never heard of (or else oreilly's interchange is just flat wrong)...

Brain, Mindcrime stated earlier in thread that he doesn't have a junkyard near him he can go to and pull parts himself.

I did catch that... and just like I had to when I ran out of options near me, I drove (3 hours one way total distance) to hit up 2 further away junkyards when it became necessary.

If a guy can buy a pigtail off partsgeek for $5 that's an option too - beats the $20 for a tank of gas, you just got to be sure of what parts you have, what parts you need, what will work and what wont.
