Does anybody have any tips on installing a manual tranny in a 96' ranger splash? I've done it before but for some odd reason I'm having issues this time and I'm ready to strike a match to it.

What's the problem? I hope you have ramps, a 4x8x3/4 sheet of plywood or a hard flat surface, and a floor jack.

I presume you used the alignment tool on the clutch, that will cause you all sorts of headaches if you don’t.

Some guys buy long bolts and cut the heads off to use for a sort of alignment pin.

Sometimes they are just a pain. The last time I had the trans out in my F-150 I had to hook a strap in the inspection hole in the bellhousing and ran it up to the back of my farm tractor to hold some pressure on it while I wiggled the output shaft with it in gear and wiggled on the transmission until it slid together.
