The wife's 2006 pontiac Vibe needs some new sneakers. I went to sears and they quoted me $640 for 4 Bridgstone hp 550. the tire size is 205/55/16. That price seems crazy. I called pepboys and they were crazy too.....any suggestions would be great

Find a local repair shop that sells tires like me we usually put them guys to shame, give me a minute and i'll tell ya what I could sell em for

Ok you can do the math, but if you are stuck on name brands then add this up goodtear eagle ls $63.57 ea, 20.00 ea for mount and balance, 3.50 in state tire tax and disposal, plus tax, well i'll total it 374.40 total out of my door for 4 tires

To get an idea what tires could cost, check tirerack.com. Keep in mind, these prices are without shipping or mounting/balancing. I priced out a set of Dunlops and Good Years (both respectable brands) for about $280 for four in your size.

I off name tire would be about 50 -60$ cheaper off that total price btw

thanks for the info........the $350 is what i was expecting!.so are you suggesting i just go to a local small mechanic shop and buy them from him?

Haha! That Eagle LS is one of the same tires I just quoted from the tirerack.com. Your price of $63.57 is even better than theirs at $71/tire!

Drag your butt up to NH and save the sales tax. It's up to 6.5% down there right?

Gotta love NH. NO STINKIN SALES TAX!!!! Sadly, the property taxes are sky high, but I don't own, so I'm fine.

Get on craiglist, too many tires to count ontheir. ALways go used if possible. NEVER NEVER NEVER buy sneakers or tires at sears. LOL Way too much profit margin trying to survive, LOL

I work at the so called "stealership" and I guarantee I could slap those same tires on your car for $3-400. Pepboys tire prices are ridiculous, and I'd only ever buy from Sears during their price match sales.

Now we did have to put tires on the S-10 back in January (well, didn't have to, but they were down to about 3/32 and one picked up a tire. It didn't make sense to spend $30 to patch a tire that was probably gonna need replaced for SI in 4 months)....

anyway, back to the original topic. We got a set of 4 club model Goodyears for less than I'd have been able to buy a similar tire at work and put them on myself. Got them from Wally-World's TLE. Might want to see what they can quote you for too. Not that I'm endorsing the idea of giving them business. Check with your local repair shop first.

I called 10 places, when looking for A/T tires, and the lowest price I could find was $610 for 4 265/75/16 Cooper Discoverer ATR's.

I put 2 sets of PepBoys tires on a Jetta I had, and I loved them. Damned if I can remember the brand though. Sold the car to my brother, he has put 2 more sets of the same tire on.

Yeah, we drive our cars...
