not really. "mental breakdown" can sell me basically the same tires for $370 that Sears wanted $650 for..........I think Sears is just trying to screw me......

i work at a sears and i agree the prices are crack prices for most of the car tires. truck tires in my area seem to be right on par with the other big name places. a 31" bfg a/t is around $150-160 per tire plus mounting and balancing. this family owned place near me has those exact bfg's $135 installed with lifetime balancing. look around the deals are there and ALWAYS ask about price matching

The thing I'd worry about buying used tires from anyone is "How old are they". Even free ones should be thrown away as a safety hazzard if too old.

I put 2 sets of PepBoys tires on a Jetta I had, and I loved them. Damned if I can remember the brand though. Sold the car to my brother, he has put 2 more sets of the same tire on.

Holy crap dude. My truck is almost 25 years old and (not counting all those JY tires I put one because 2 JY tires every year was cheaper than an alignment) it's only had about 4 sets of tires in its life. and I'm pushing 200K.

I got mine (Firestone Destination A/T, 215/75-15) through my local mechanic (Weed Family Auto in Concord, NH), mounted & balanced for $125 each, $500 for the set.

That's a good deal in my book.

Yeah. But I gotta burn $70 worth of fuel (round trip) plus a hotel night to get 'em.

Besides, I bought those tires two years ago. I won't need new shoes for my truck for AT LEAST another 35,000 miles. So, 2-3 years out.

Hell you guys are lucky....I went to the AAFES car care center to see about ordering new 33s for the truck, and they only carry one tire that size...Coopers....and they wanted over $1000 for 4...
