help please i need help

Yeah, possibly, Duane. To answer a question, you simply reply to the post. "Remembering the question" is total BS. There's no remembering to it. There's just replying to the f*cking message. Hit "quote", type in the answer. It's possible we're all being "punked", or whatever that TV word is. Like... "let's f*ck with those Ranger Station guys, act dumb as a rock, etc." He won't answer straight, there's no way to know what's going on. It's like trying to do mechanic work while tied in a strait jacket with a hood over our heads.

thaNK YOU I NEED HELP ASAP

Adam - is that your name?

I've thought about your problem and have put together "clues" that you've given.

Overheating on the drive from CA to Las Vegas.
The engine started knocking. This is from overheating the engine. it doesn't matter that it was cold outside. Only the volkswagen beatle is air-cooled. Your engine is cooled by coolant. You kept adding coolant, which means it kept overheating.

The knocking means you have one of the following physical/mechanical problems:

burnt valves or bearings.
bent valves
warped or cracked heads
ruined rings or pistons

That motor never will start for you. You can probably get one from a wreck, with low miles, for around 4-5 hundred dollars.

Good luck

PS When an engine overheats, NEVER put coolant in it without the engine running. The engine has to be running, and you have to put coolant in it very slowly. Otherwise, you'll crack a head. Your heads could be cracked despite you looking at them. They need to be magnafluxed to determine if they are cracked. You can do that if you want, but I'd save your money for the new motor.

I guess you'll learn some terminology eventually. A rebuild is when you take an engine apart and make improvements to the moving parts. New bearings, rings, make the cylinders round again, etc etc. Taking it apart and cleaning it doesn't really do anything for it without the other improvements.

If you want help in the future, you need to give more specific, and detailed, answers to our questions. Nobody here will give you grief for being a dumbass - we're all dumbasses - but not giving good answers is problematic, as you've noticed. When someone asks a question, click on "quote", and answer the question thoroughly. For example, one of your answers could have been as follows:

I was driving the truck to Las Vegas and it overheated. I stopped and added coolant to it. It kept overheating, so i kept stopping and adding coolant. Half way to home the engine started knocking. after that it ran rough. Or whatever the facts are. We won't get on you for that. trucks break down, that's why we band together.
