Advice? I have a 1992 Ford Ranger XLT 2.3L Auto with 114,000 Original Miles on it. Sat for a few years while I was on deployments and I'm trying to get it running again while also updating/upgrading to performance parts. I'm not a professional mechanic and am running into an issue: Starts and idles perfect, but once I put it into gear (R,N D,OD,3,2,1-Doesnt Matter) and then push the gas pedal it dies. I replaced the MAF sensor and the IAC valve today obviously no help. Could it be a fuel filter or fuel issue in general?

Thanks

Did you drain old fuel out?

If not : drain fuel and change fuel filter. Fuel is bad if left for a year or more. This happens even with good fuel but start with fresh fuel and move on from there.

If you have access to one, fuel pressure tester, test fuel pressure after fuel change. Make sure you have the proper fuel pressure on the fuel rail.

Is the check engine light on or come on while it is running?

If it is pull the codes, how to's can be found on line, and post them here and we will help decipher what they mean to help you better.

All good advice. Will it rev in neutral/park? Might be a useful data point.
