Well i have been rebuilding a truck for about 2 months now: REWIRING EVERYTHING, NEW DASH, NEW INTERIOR, KIND OF NEW ENGINE AND TRANNY.
EVERY TIME I FIX SOMETHING ANOTHER PROBLEM STARTS:mad:

NOW MY PROBLEM IS AT START UP WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD.
I START HER UP SHE RUNS A PRETTY HIGH IDLE AND THEN STARTS CHOKING NEARLY TO THE POINT THAT SHE DIES AND SOME TIMES SHE DOES.
ITS LIKE SHES ALMOST RUNNING OUT OF GAS OR SOMETHING.THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD. ONCE SHES WARMED UP THE PROBLEM IS GONE!!! IF I START THE ENGINE WHILE ITS WARM IT DOESN'T HAVE THE PROBLEM.
ANY IDEAS?????

does it have a carb? if so, maybe choke?
O SORRY FORGOT TO GIVE ALL THE INFO NEEDED

ITS A 1986 FORD RANGER WITH A 2.9Lv6(fuel injected) Mazda 5 speed transmission

:icon_confused:it could even be a small vac leak, colder air would make it act up more. thats all i can think of right now. my old 2.0L ranger would do that, i wanted to drive it into the river! finally found the leak on a downward facing vacuum fitting. i was so happy! it ran like new after that.

I bet thats what it is!!!

Any ways to track down a vacuum leak!!!

spray carb clean over all lines and fittings.... do not use anything else! when it picks up in rpm, you found the leak! make sure you dont miss any lines.... if not, i still have a match.....

unplug your IACV, its the cylindrical sensor on the side of the upper intake, from the symptoms you describe i will say its either that or your FPR being tempermental, check those 2 things and get back to us

I know this will sound stupid but what is a IACV?

If its the FPR why is it fine after warm up? just curious!
