So I have a brake fluid leak. My truck has ABS. Its located on the driver side right under the frame. Some type of sensor of some sort? What is it called so I can buy one this weekend and replace it.

Thanx....

More info is needed....In the front or rear? I assume your referring to the rear between the frame rail and gas tank?

1991 Ford Ranger 4x4, 2.9L ,10''Rear drum brake, Anti-Lock rear.

There is a hose that goes from the brake booster to the driver side frame rail. It connect to a box shaped "thing". The hose then goes to the rear brakes. Its leaking from box shaped "thing"(sorry that is the only way i can describe it) and I would like to replace it some time today. Thank you.

ABS control valve. I did mine on the 92 Ranger this last weekend. The cheapest I found was Kragen. $151 + $50 core charge. NAPA was $6 more but less core. Be very, very careful. You break anything you won't get the core back. It's a bugger to change and messy too.

I just had the same leak problem. I just replaced the ABS control valve and it is still leaking. I am going to need to diagnose further. To find out why that is happening. I'm wondering if the new ABS control valve is defective.

are you sure it was the ABS unit that was leaking to start with?and not a line or fitting?

IF your new one is leaking I would take it back.

mine is leaking now too... for a 1997 ... where's the cheapest replacement in Canada?

Mine is leaking too, going from bad to worse. Is there any special bleeding requirement after its installed or just bleed like you normally do the rear?

Isn't there an active recall for this? I have a 97 and there's a recall on some kind of brake valve or sensor that leaks over time.
*edit* I'm thinking of the cruise control switch. Sorry
