Help! Auto Module Repair

I am looking for someone to point me in the right direction. I need to get 2 modules for a 1998 4X4 4.0 Liter 5speed Manual A/C Supercab:
1 GEM (Generic Electronic Module)
1 RAP (Remote Anti-Theft Personality Module)

I am looking for my uncle, who is computer illiterate....but I am truck/repair/parts illiterate....so I need help in finding the place to go and exactly what part I really need.

Perhaps the local junkyard or Ebay ?? Try to get the # (serial number) of parts needed & go from there-

Our problem is also location I suppose....we live on Maui and the local junk yard is out for sure. I have dealt with someone else for previous parts...and the shipping rates have been a nitemare and are also a concern for us.

With dealing with ebay, do you think there is a risk with buying used parts or someone not associated with a company??

I can take a WAG about why you need a RAP.

What is wrong with the GEM that it needs replaced.
