HELP 88 ford 2.3 heads with 2.9 block ?


Compression ratios. Most factory 2.3 turbo motors will have dished pistons and about an 8.0:1 compression ratio. Naturally aspirated (non forced induction) motors are going to have a flat top piston and a higher compression ratio, about 9.2:1 according to him. He's saying that if it has turbo pistons and the lower compression ratio, it might not have as much power and run as well as the higher compression ratio.

Generally speaking a higher compression is going to generate more power, but to much compression leads to detonation which is bad. Turbo motors usually start with a lower ratio, because when that additional air gets forced in its going to increase a lot.
Well looking at the heads what do u think?

Well looking at the heads what do u think?
Can't tell, the heads pretty much look the same. The major difference was in the block, namely the pistons.

Looks like a flat top with valve reliefs from here. That would mean non-turbo. If the engine has been rebuilt with non stock pistons (impossible for me to tell from screen shot), who knows what the piston specs are.

well I don’t feel like if they rebuilt the motor from the ground up that specifically they would have know what they were doing more than likely and not built it wrong. I feel more like someone out 2 motors together but idk enough about it to know what to fix.

there’s also a plug under it if anyone know what it’s to

That looks like the oil pressure sensor. If I remember correctly, it's on the side of the block and is a single wire unit.
