Hi! My fiancé helped me buy a ranger recently, and he told me to check out this forum. It's a manual standard cab with 2wd, and it's my first vehicle.

Is there possibly a way to change the font on the gauge cluster? It looks nice, don't get me wrong, but I think it'd be fun to change it. Idk if it's possible though. Im thinking i could find options for changing the fonts while I'm looking for clusters that have a tachometer in them, but I'm not sure (bc I haven't looked yet. :/)

I'd consider looking into the electrical section here on the TRS forum, doing what you describe is a very popular mod.

If not keeping it looking stock, you could always fit up your own tach next to the spedo, and re-install the popular 3, voltage, oil pressure & water temp on the A pillar or under the dash. But having a stock tach would be sweet. "Look it's got a factory tach" that was a rare option.

usually you can find gage overlays on ebay and amazon that are just stickers that you put down on your current gage faces. so there are those types of deals and you said you wanted a different cluster so you can gain the tachometer? i imagine that you can change to a different one, and its probably just a plug and play kind of swap, but i am not 100% sure as i have not done that on a ranger. for sure, check the tech sections for info and maybe someone who has done it will post an answer for you, also.

On a '97 you can install the cluster from a similar year range Explorer with a tach easy enough, heck I have a mountaineer in the back yard with one you could have cheap enough and I'd help you put it in and we could keep the stock odometer... I'm just up the road in Hopewell...
