Heat Warning!

It cooled off a bit today here. It was down to about 95. If I didn't have the kids all day I could have been outside doing stuff.

Maybe tomorrow I'll get to getting the Mustangs driveshaft rebuilt.

Yeah man, good advice. It’s been 99-101 here, complete with humidity. A/C is down in both my vehicles (hell, the Ranger has been down period for several weeks now). As I drove down to town to see the doctor yesterday, I saw guys baling hay and thought, “You sick bastards.” Then I remembered how I used to have to do the same sh@t (with a baler that had no kicker), as well as do roofing in this same kind of heat. And then there were the insulation jobs in attic crawl spaces (we called it “going in the hole.”) No idea how I did it then or how other guys are doing it now.

Long story short, if it’s hot enough that you know it’s not worth it, it can probably wait a few days or be done piecemeal in the mornings and/or evenings. Hay will spoil, jobs will be delayed, you might have to miss some meals or be late on the rent. But man, it’s so much better than a trip to the hospital or worse. Be safe out there, folks.

I am thinking that I am going to put the AC back in the Bronco at some point this year. To use the correct condenser I have to cut a chunk off the core support though, and since I will be replacing said core support once my mom's Mustang is out of my garage I'm just going to wait and do it all at once, so that will probably be this winter.

We finally had a huge set of thunderstorms hit tonight... The temp dropped almost 30 degrees in less than 2 hours. :yahoo: Im half tempted to grab my spotlights and get some work done on my truck before the sun comes up and brings the death heat back with it. :bawling:

102 here in the Dallas Texas area. Been 100-102 that for at least a week.

I recall one summer in Ohio when we had a brown out. If I recall correctly, the power was offer for a couple of days (?)

We had a transformer melt down somewhere in my area last night around 8. Power was down for about 30 minutes.

It's not that hot out. I grew up working on a farm. you want hot? go to the inside top of a metal barn stacking hay where its 120 degrees and no air flow for a few hours. I'm big and hairy so I sweat profusely all the time so I learned to just deal with it. That's what I have to say all the time to my kids, my techs, my co workers.... "JUST DEAL WITH IT" lol

I know the feeling. Spent a lot of summers growing up picking up hay bales off the field, throwing them on the wagon, jumping up there (while avoiding the rot holes in the decking), throwing them overhead, stacking them, jumping back down, rinsing and repeating while the tractor drove on. Followed up by hours in the hay mow of the family barn (and hay customers' barns) doing the same crap with dust so thick you could just barely see through the haze as those bales kept getting shot out at you by the grain elevator. I do not recommend it to anyone.

Cleaned 150 years of loose hay accumulation out of my barn last summer. That freakin sucked.
