Heads difference.

Whats the difference, 98tm and the 90tm heads ?
I have 1 90tm and the other is a 98tm on my 98 ranger.
Both have oval exhaust ports.

Over Head Valve
Ford 4.0 – 244 V6 90-94 Ford 90/93TM
Ford 4.0 – 244 V6 95-97 Ford – 95TM (Larger Ex Ports than 98TM)
Ford 4.0 – 244 V6 98-00 Ford 98TM

Well I know the 95TM heads changed to the "Fast burn" combustion chambers. I'm not sure what else changed but I thought the oval ports were a mark of the later casting. Are you sure the casting number isn't damaged or incomplete on the alleged 90 head?

It is 90tm. Mabe the intake ports are different from the 98tms ?

You would want to replace 98TM heads with '98-'00 heads, same head, because of emission concerns

Top head is 90TM
Bottom head is 98TM

Anyone know of the 98TM exhaust ports can be ported out to match the 95tm size?
