Hi Guys,

Last night the headlights on my '98 3.0L Ranger would not turn on. No High Beams, no low beams. All other lights including the Flash to Pass work. Fuses #4, #8 and #33 check OK. I am stumped. Has anyone experienced this before? Any suggestion?

Thanks

Sounds like the switch to me. On my '07, the flash to pass will work even if the switch is disconnected.

I would tell you to jumper the wires behind the switch to see if they come on to verify my suspicion, I do not have a schematic of your system handy so I cannot tell you which wires to jump.

Fords have been overheating/melting the pigtails to the Main Light Switch for YEARS.

Third one in for the main switch. FTP power doesn't go through the main switch.

Yep. Probably the switch..I just replaced mine for the same reason. It was cooked! It was the multi switch in my column that burned up on mine.

Thanks to for the suggestions. It was the main switch. One contact in the switch was worn off at an angle. I would have suspected some intermittent operation. But it work one night and not the next. A new switch from Advanced Auto and I am on my way casting beams of light through the darkness.

Thank again.

Had this same problem in my 87 Ranger. Headlights would flicker and then turn off with high beams turned on. One day they quit working and it made me late for work till i could drive in the daylight. Took it apart and found the connector to only be loose thank god!:yahoo: But it does seem like a shitty design of Ford.
