Header help

NOPE, YOU SAID HE'D HAVE TO NOTCH THE FRAME. AND AS THE PICS ABOVE PROVE, THE COLLECTOR WOULD BE NOWHERE NEAR THE FRAME ON A 351 AS IT WOULD BE SITTING HIGHER.

Just to reiterate, that side is sitting an inch higher than it would if it was just the mount in there by itself. The shim was required for the oil pan but looks pretty tight for the header (which wasn't on the engine yet when I came up with the shims) I had to shoot blindly with the camera so I don't think getting a tape measure in there and being able to do anything with it is too feasible. In my 4x4 (the crossmember is different and I don't know how compared to a 2wd) I wouldn't bet there is an inch there to play with...

Also keep in mind I have a 3" bodylift, so more than likely I have 3" more room there with the firewall than the OP with a 2wd truck (not commonly lifted)

I do not have any real good pictures of the plates. The way we did it was to use wood blocks as templates and bolt them to the block. Then lower the engine and move it around where you want it and mark the holes in the wood and then transfer the hole to the steel. We used one plate on the passenger side that has 4 holes, 2 for the block and 2 for the motor mount. The driver side has two plates. The first plate is a spacer that sits directly on top of the motor mount to help us level the engine due to the offset in the motor mount holes in the frame. The second plate is bolted to the block and and also to the spacer and motor mount. I would recommend putting the transmission in also before you mark the holes. If I can figure out how to post what pictures I do have you can see how tight the clearance is between everything. If not you can see it in the youtube videos that are part of my signature.

It says the file size is too big but I would be happy to email them to you if you want.

I used Patriot tri y headers for 64-70 mustang from Jeg's. Trimmed top and bottom of frame on passengers side. $150
