I have a 92 with a 2.3l I was once told that if I replaced my stock manifold with a (Ranger)93-94 stock header it would run a whole lot better. My question is will it throw any codes? Will it bolt right up? , with out any mods? I just passed california smog so I thought I would ask.

Yes it is a bolt on deal.Make sure you get one from a 93-94 as these two years are the only ones that have both EGr and O2 hookups. You can use the later ones but have to also get a O2 bung and weld in the pipe somewheres.Won't throw any codes. It will run better and take 15-20 lbs off the front

It was one of the first mods I did thanks to a suggestion in this forum many years ago...it is a much better manifold than that stock...

But I thought the stock was much heavier than the shorty header...maybe I'm just getting old but I could barely lift the stock header with two hands while the shorty header could be held in place with one while you attach the bolts with the other...

yea. lol. those stock manifolds are rediculous. i would deffinatly go for the header. more power and weight reduction. and it just looks alot better.
