oooh,shiny!

holy crap, that thing sure shines! forget making a fiberglass bumper, you should just leave that one. the weight will give you even more grip up front for turning aha

Is the paint still wet or is it really that shiny?

it's that shiny....but i still need to color sand and polish it,so it'll have an even better gloss once it's done.

remember,it's just plywood and bondo...it would be cracking up in the first mile if i tried to run with it.

also, for those that weren't around when i posted about it way back when, notice the air compressor in the background of the pic?

There's tires in your headlights!

No really, it looks good. She will be real nice that color. When do you think you'll be painting it

I used to work for Fleetwood years ago, I was a gelcoater for the huge rv body panels. We used a mold release similar to what your using. Cant remember the name but it was a water based liquid. Its been 10+ years since then. The one side that was around 10' long and 12' high, if i remember right, took me 15 minutes to gel.
It was a PITA job, summers really sucked having to wear paint suits and almost no air movement during the summer, but I learned alot there.

Hey to Dora... :icon_thumby:

that would have been pva you were using.

i used to make the bodies for porche speedster replicas, the gelcoat had to be done in one shot, usually 20-25 minutes to get it all on.same thing like you say, summertime was ugly.got pretty bad when you had to get under the dash area, nothing but solid fumes there.

it was these guys i used to work for...http://www.intermeccanica.com/roadster.html

i figured someone would be asking about that soon....i'm going with a thin chromed surround with vertical chromed bars spaced on 1 1/4'' centers.the vertical bars will actually be more like blades,in that they will be about 1 1/2'' deep, but only 1/8'' wide.you will be able to see the pivot on the hinge between the bars, but hopefully with it set back a little and painted black it won't be too obvious.
