Gt-12

ok....it's january second, time for the monthly report.

the last two weeks or so have essentially been vacation time.holiday's over.

gt6001-57.jpg

about the only thing new that's been happening is starting on the front fender tops.as was stated earlier, the rust in this area means having to cut out quite a wide section, and fill it in with new metal.

it's been four months i've been at it so far,and i'm thinking i'd like to have it going for the end of june.so that gives me six more months.

i think i can draw up a schedule to keep it on track now.

Well, its about time, now quit your slackin. lol

oh,i'm still slackin.......might take a month to draw up that schedule:D

no,i'm getting to it.should be some meaningful posts in the near future....once i set a deadline on something i really like to keep it.six months can go by faster than you realise.

gwaii, you my friend are a frickin genius! i'm a huge fan of automotive fabrication t.v. shows and stuff, for the ideas they give me... (now hopefully someday i'll be able to afford to make some of those ideas a reality) but yeah, this is way better than overhaulin' and monster garage... some of the stuff you have come up with for this car just blows my mind! now, when i start building my project car, (don't know when that will be, don't even have a car to work on) i'll def. be msging you for advice... once again, awesome build! i'll be subscribing, and i cannot wait to see this beastly little demon come to life!

thanks...i've still been plugging away at that hood.it's the sort of stuff that eats up a lot of time but doesn't really make for interesting photos or posts.still needs to be done, though.

on a project like this everything impacts everything else,so where getting the body dealt with would normally be a end-of-job routine,on this it determines where the mechanical items can go,so all aspects of the car need to progress together.

i have more pictures of frankenstiened sheet metal for ya....

the extended front wheelwells were not making me happy.they needed to be made a bit bigger yet,so i chopped them out again.

gt6002-51.jpg

i got done fitting patch panels into the top of the right fender, now theres a lot of welding and dressing to be done in this area.

gt6003-50.jpg

this seam at the front corner needed a bit more than just welding it up...so i cut out a large area around it to get some fresh metal in place.the old section is sitting above the cutout.

gt6004-33.jpg

these same areas need to be cut out still from the left side.oh joy.

gt6006-19.jpg

tacked back together, the wheel arch doesn't look much different, but it clears the tire much better when steering now.it was getting a little too close for comfort before.

gt6007-18.jpg

with it's new patch in place this area looks much nicer.

Nice work as always Gwaii. Who get's to do all of the bodywork when painting time comes? Or do I even need to ask, jack of all trades?

:D

body and paint are a specialty of mine.i can't see farming anything out on this project, unless i get the headers ceramic coated-i'm not set up to do that here.

another mod i'm making is in the signal light area.i've been trying to figure out what to do here for a while, and finally came up with a solution.i'm cutting out the original mounting area and plating it with a plain piece of metal.into this i'll french in a tube where i'll mount the round light.this light is one of the fixtures i eliminated from the rear, and think it will look better than the rectangular one that was original to the car.

Sweet!!
The Docs back down in the Laboratory again.
This build is better than when creature feature came on when I was a kid!

"The Creature From The Black Lagoon"
Gave me many a nightmares as a kid.
I think it was supposed to be in the Amazon.............a little farther south than me.lol.
Although at the bar across the bay from my house I think I did spot her once or twice.....wait a minute..........that was my x-wife.

another little item i had to take care of was the front frame crossmember.this one gives quite a bit more rigidity to the frame.for those keeping track, this is the third(and hopefully last)version of this part.the round tube under the pulley that was for the first version of the front suspension will be removed.
