:icon_cheers:Plus the vodka will help keep you warm.:icon_cheers:

Just amazing

:icon_cheers: Onto my 5th glass of the night. Going with Imperia this time. You still have the trusty smirnoff?

of course.the liquer store here only carries about three brands.

and the pricier brands don't give any better of a buzz.:D

I'm curious as to which three deserve such an honor.

accept from the beginning that making something worth having will take a few days, then take your time.sometimes i'll take over an hour just to get one piece fit up right.but if i do that,i'll be much more likely to be satisfied with the job for the years afterward that i have to look at it.

This statement rings so much truth. I've noticed that when I rush, I'm much less satisfied with the result. I did this mostly when I was younger......you know, the fast life. Taking your time produces a better product, because as the saying goes - "You can polish a turd, but it's still a turd".

Ill stick with my Beer...........Vodka is like fukitall to me............but I do love that stuff!
Maybe thats why my truck is sitting on jackstands in the back yard?????

absolutely.what i do is think of how long i expect to live with the item i've saved an hour or two on.saving that hour may be pissing me off for years.

one other important point...

at this point only use a small tack to hold the pieces together.if you are using a one piece flange, make sure the pipes can be removed easilly from it,as well as the collector.
you'll want to pull all the tubes off to do the finish welding on each seperately, then weld them back onto the flange and collector when done.this makes for a much better welding job and much less stress.

That was my first screw up.
I started mine with the idea to offset the seams so I could weld them intact.
Are you going to finish weld with TIG or MIg?
Great info as always my friend!

kinda depends on the circumstances...i find if i'm just doing a project for relaxation,i actually get more done with a drink going.

i could never touch the stuff when doing real work, like for a customer though.on my evening projects there's no time constraints, and if i mess something up i can fix it before anyone knows.

not that i ever mess up:D

tig.

on something like this where the weld takes up so much space compared to the item being made, tig brings it under control.
also, don't mind the bubblegum welds on the cage.....that's from repositioning things a bunch of times while fitting up.they will all be ground off and tigged at finish time.
