First time owning or driving a Ranger. A friend of mine gave this XLT 4x4 to me after he got a new car. Went to the same shop for all its repairs and maintenance over the ten or so years my friend drove it, so aside from a leaky trans cooler fitting, warped brakes, dirty air filter and being overdue for engine and transfer case oil changes, it's turned out to be a solid truck. The worst things about it so far are lack of working A/C, a belt tensioner that sometimes squeaks or clatters depending on how it feels, gas pouring out of the tank once it hits full, and some light engine oil leakage from what seems to be the oil pan. The engine oil doesn't leave any drips though, so I'm inclined to leave it for the time being. Ran kinda rough the first few days I had it, even after the new air filter and oil change, but steady highway driving has pretty much cleared out whatever fowling the plugs and injectors might've had.
My plan for it for now is to get some new tires (the Michelins on it seem decent, but they are 20 years old), change the suspension bushings and transmission mount out for Energy Suspension parts, and get a new coil, wires and plugs for a tune up. Maybe a leveling kit in the future, but I don't plan on doing extreme off roading with it, so that's far down the list.
