I am trying to do some catching up on maintenance on my '97 ranger w/4.0 at 157K. I was wondering what kinds of things on this engine will cause gradual losses of power but not the kinds of things that will set a trouble code or anything like that. I have replaced almost all of the EGR emissions system and my plugs and wires have about 20K on them. I want to get the engine running as good as it can, but do I have to replace the heads, cam or anything like that to restore it back to new. I'm not currently having any problems with it and it runs pretty darn good, but just wondering.::dunno:

It could be the Mass air senson my ranger didn't have any power and I just cleaned the sensor with a Q tip and nail polish remover and it ran just fine after that.
