We haven't weighed it yet and probably wont, but guessing from the size he's about 210-220 gutted.

It runs in the family too.

I'm not a fan of bear skin rugs. The feet and head get in the way, and there isn't really anywhere to put them. My dad made a rug out of the one he got back in the 80's. HUGE black bear from up in the Adirondacks.

I'll probably do a head mount, or maybe a upper torso if I can afford it.

Probably like this. Only different.

Dunno. I hear it's greasy, which makes sense from all the grease and fat they have in them. I had someone describe it as eating a Racoon. Who the hell does that?

I have had coon before. Its not that bad if you cook it right. We BBQed em. Bear meat is awesome its like the finest red meat. Like a really good cut of beef in a stew. Really good. Coon taste like rabbit. Sort of an aquired taste.

I must say I am not a big fan of hunting but, having said that, I am also fine with folks who hunt to use the meat. I love deer meat, but will not hunt myself to get it. I would hunt and kill if it was the only way to feed my family though...so I don't mean to dis our fine hunters, who do it for the meat and not simply for sport. Sounds like Koda is a real hunter not just a sports hunter. :) Hope you enjoy the bear meat Koda, and someone puts the rest of the hide to good use as well.

Congrats man!

I've never been hunting, but I have had bear jerky I think it was, and it was awsome!!

I love dear/elk jerky and pepperoni too. Good stuff!

Just a random fact about odd meat, my mom had a "weight Watchers" book a while ago (lists all the "points" for different foods) and one of the things in there was squirell. I can see eating dear and bear and such, but there just can't be that much meat on a squerill!

More meat on a squirrel than on a dove. Thats why when you want to eat either one you need a bunch of them. Dove is damn good meat. only thing you can use from them is the breast tho. Put it in noodles or rice like you would chicken. Not that it taste like chicken.
