99 x cab 4.0 auto 4x4 $800 down side is a bad engine body is clean. the guy was on his way to work and the oil pump went out. the local ford dealer has a 04 xploder that is totaled from the transport (it was up to high and hit a bridge)it has a 4.6 auto the wheels are turning now.

That sounds like a really good project. Mechanically, all ought to bolt and fit right in? The wiring might be quite a mess to sort out. The 2000 Ranger/Explorers are almost a direct wiring swap. The later Explorers (don't know exact year) moved the CPU and main wiring connections to the right front fender instead of at the firewall. Now the wiring more matchs that of the Mustang. I've got the '99' Ranger wiring diagrams and the ones for the '06' Explorer if that would help.
