Going to buy a truck ranger or tacoma help me pick

because everybody that owns a toyota loves the smell of their own festering asshole and thinks they are literally made of gold, so they price them accordingly.

at least around here they do.

every time i see a lifted toyota truck around here its like seeing a cookie sheet because they all look and sound the same.

do what you want

depends on budget and year you're considering.
anything up to 2005? (whenever the tacoma got a redesign and the 4.0) I would get a ranger. A new tacoma vs a new ranger I would be tempted to take the tacoma because of the power plant. If you look at any used tacoma look real carefully for frame rust, toyota likes use metal that turns to swiss cheese pretty quickly

Are you buying new or used? Figure out your budget and take some trucks that fall under said budget for a drive. The Ranger will most likely come in cheaper, but nearly all of the technology in a brand new ranger is at minimum 10 years old. But with that history comes a tried and true truck. Either vehicle will be reliable as long as proper care and maintenance have not been neglected.

If you want us all to butt-kiss the ranger because we own one then you do sound like a Yota owner in the making, though.

I'm goign to say it I really like the tacoma, I've driven them and seen how well they last, and they have the option of a 4 door(why not buy a car them? or an SUV?) they have tons more power then my ranger they do cost more and have more aftermarket support....

...but when I step into my rangers and turn that key... I've got the best truck in the world. And you just can't get that feeling from toy's...

Thanks for all the advise, may have found a ranger 1998 or 99 Green sport side 4X4 5speed extra cab. It has 141,000 and a 3.0 wish it was 4.0 auto.

I think you would wont a Ranger because it's cheaper to get in to than the Toyota and according to Ford is cheaper to operate, I would buy a Ranger because it's a American product and I wont to hold on to something that really doesn't exist any more but that's just me, I like the personality of the little truck.

id go with the ranger, but i guess its all in personal preferance. ask this on a toyota forum and im sure they would vote the other direction, ha ha. (i dont think hurst makes a shifter for the toyota though)

Tacoma if you want high resale. Ranger if you want to support an American company and plan on long term ownership where resale doesn't matter as much. Just my opinion.

I agree, to me toyota are over rated and where I live in Arkansas most of the ones that are over 10 years old are RUSTED THE F#$K OUT. If your looking at new trucks and want more power, get a damn dodge Dakota with a 300hp v8. But besides the rust problem the tacos seem to be pretty good. But to me rangers are better trucks and are a lot cheaper.
Dont get me wrong though if I could find a clean single cab 4x4 Hilux ( or whatever they where before the tacoma) at a good price with no rust I would buy it as a toy.
