This dude has a BII about 2 hrs from me I'd like to go buy tomorrow. Problem is it only stays running when the key is turned. He messed with it so much he burned up the starter and put a new one on, replaced solenoid, he thought it was tumbler replaced that and it didnt fix it. Any ideas befor I go lay down $600?

I hate the idea of buying a truck without driving it but a 100% rust free BII for $600 does'nt EVER come by up here in indiana. This one is from TN, I was told I can still see the red dirt on the frame lol.

could be the ignition switch

if it is just a ignitin issue and everything is up to snuff trailor that bad boy and do a good once over all the ignition wireing maybe it has a short somewhere

$600 for a clean b2,even if you have to replace the motor you are still coming out ahead.

The redneck in me wants to wire a toggle switch so the coil has voltage bypassing the ignition key. And drive it home with dukes of hazard music playing.

and this is a problem how?

did he attach the system power on the wrong side of the solenoid?

buy it, fix it, drive it. can't go wrong for $600. just my $.02.

Thats what I'm thinkin. Going first thing tomorrow, heck I'd still buy it if the motor was blown.

I agree with all them, Setup a pushbutton start and forget about it. 600 bux is a bangup deal on a b2, You better not be buying the one in dandridge, that one is mine. lol, soon as i get some money.

Hey I kinda know thefeeling I bought my bronco 2 with no clutch I mean it started and Rand but wouldn't move so couldn't test out 4 wheel driveor nothing talked the guy down from 700 to 450 and call aaa and had it towed home put a clutch in it and really haven't had a problem with it other then a feul system problem that took for ever to figure out and it was a orignal owner with a 116,xxx milies on it so I couldn't complain

I bought my first one for $75.. replaced the in tank fuel pump and sold it for $400. It was an 86. The 89 I have now I got for $350 and I've put in an $11 solenoid and working on doing the clutch now. So to me $600 is high =) But if it's clean, do it.

What year is it? I got an 89 that I am parting out if you need an ignition

my '87 had the same problem when i got it, when i pulled the switch apart, it has two copper pieces with little contact buttons on them, i cleaned the grease, dirt and crud off of them put it back together and worked fine since, just be sure to rebend the tabs that hold it toghther over very well, or it might fall apart on you in the middle of traffic like mine did!!
