Getting my money back...

ok so we called the postal inspector out of atlanta today, and called the local post office to see if the money order has been cashed. well they said it hasnt been cashed yet, i could fill out form xxx and after 60 days i can get my money back if it hasnt been cashed. BUT, they dont do a stop payment on it. thats some bs. so anyways i still havent heard from the seller even after numerous attempts to contact him. so what can i do as far as trying to stop payment and get my money back?

Do a background check and see if he was arrested, otherwise keep trying to contact him. If it hasnt been cashed at least you know he hasnt intentionally screwed you....yet. You can pm someone his name and maybe one of us can get ahold of him with a number he dont recognize. Where is he from? A few of our guys are out of town working with limited access to anything.

just an update, i finally got my parts in the mail...better late then never, not sure if i should post the user or not. maybe just the holiday rush had em busy. but a pm or some kinda acknowledgement woulda been nice

Glad it all worked out for you. probably the holidays were what threw everything off. And while you did get the parts, as good business practice he should have made a bigger effort to communicate with you as to the status.

I would give him a reprieve on this one and not post his user name. and if the seller is reading this thread, a word of advice: communicate! crap happens, but you should not let it interfere with your business transactions, and if something happens in such a way that it does, let the buyer know what is up and what you are going to do to fix it!

Money order vs. Paypal

About 6 or 7 yrs ago when I was living in Las Vegas I tried setting up a paypal account and it just was not working out and I said screw it.. I have in the last 2 or 3 years had items for sale here on The Ranger Station that needed a new home. I explained straight up the issue I had with paypal, I also gave buyers my address, cell phone number, house number and whatever else they wanted within reason. I was so broke I couldnt pay attention, let alone pay postage, BUT as it went, I received all buyers moneys, Buyers all received what they purchased, and everyone was happy, I hope. Bottom line get as much information as possible. I even told people to look up my address on Microsoft Virtual earth, I am right outside city limits so the pictures go from good to real bad on google earth, but the virtual earth had us in sharp and clear. If your not sure about someone try calling a few times and see if you can build a sense of trust. But dont put the BS detector away just yet. Pay attention to minor details in conversation and later if it doesnt jive with previous story, then back away slow and hang on to your wallet.

Glad to hear that is over with. The seller should have let you know that he was out for awhile or he was sick or what!!!

I am glad to say that I have never had any issues with buying or selling any thing. Money Orders or Paypal or cashiers check or Western Union Money Grams. I have bought a few things that came later then it was supposed to but the seller always let me know he was running late getting my stuff off to the Post Office or whatever.
