Getting my money back...

thing is if he has cashed the money order and never intended to send the parts it is fraud and with the post office being involved it makes it federal mail fraud

ok, I just talked to my brother that works for the USPS and he say you can put a tracer on the money order for $5.40 and they will send a copy of the front and back if it's been cashed. If it has not been cashed then after 60 days you can get you money back.

This.

If it is something major make sure you post his name up so the rest of us don't buy stuff from him. I don't wanna ruin his name if it's misunderstanding, but if it's for real.. Tell everyone

www.usps.com states no refunds on MO unless damaged-

Money Orders are not eligible for a refund. However, if a money order is spoiled or damaged, you can request a replacement money order, write your name as the recipient, and then cash the money order. To replace a money order complete the following steps:

1.
Take both of the following to a local Post Office facility:
*
The original United States Postal Service money order.
*
The purchase receipt for the original money order.
2.
Fill out PS Form 6401 (Money Order Inquiry).
3.
The money order will be immediately reissued.
I've had them refund my money on a money order done through the US postal service, despite what it says there. It can take a little while, but it can be done IF the postal employee you talk to is willing to help you. It usually requires filling out a form, producing the receipt, and waiting a week or so. If it's been cashed it's a little more difficult to get it reversed than if it hasn't been cashed.

I say this because I had one that got lost before. It wasn't cashed when I inquired about it and they refunded me the money so I could send a new money order out and I asked about what would happen if it would have been cashed.

again, it's mail fraud. reportable to the FBI, US Postal Inspectors, etc. send him one more email explaining your next action (reporting the crime) and see what happens. tell him he has 48 hours to respond or you'll make the reports.
good luck.

Interesting.

I either pay in person or Paypal. Never send cash, check or money order.

I'm really interested though to see what the Postal Inspectors will say. It could very well be mail fraud and a federal offense.

Keep us posted.

i have a number for a postal inspectors office in illinois. i know if you are on the wrong side of them they can be worse than the fbi, game warden and local and state police all rolled into one.

Thanks guys for all the ideas. I'm gonna go to the post office after work and see if its been cashed. I've bought a lot of stuff from members the same way, and haven't had any problems. I ended up having to go to the jy and get my parts just because I needed them. Major inconvenience to me and now I'm out my money or gonna have parts I don't need. Anyways ill keep trying to contact him, and talk to the post office. Ill keep u guys posted

The way I see it is, if you have something for sale and someone pays you (no matter how) you have an obligation to send them the part/item they paid for. If something comes up that's important then you have an obligation to let the buyer know. Another thing, if you know it's the holiday season and you know you've got plans and you're going to busy, plan accordingly and sell it at a later time. I guess that's too hard for some people to figure out though? Personally, i'd throw his username up so the rest of us know in the mean time.

i think ive been got

Yeah, I think so.

You sent MO
Ample time passes
No part(s) were received
You send correspondence several times
You receive no response to your correspondence attempts
The seller has been logged into TRS since the attempted correspondence
Still no part(s) or response

Up until the red colored lines I would agree that there could be any number of acceptable excuses as to why the part(s) have not been received yet. After the two red colored lines, I can think of no reason whatsoever for either the unreceived part(s) or the failure to return correspondence.

This guy needs to man up and send your part(s) or return your money.

Edit: I just read post number 24, and apparently you already purchased the part(s) you needed from another source as a result of not receiving the part(s) you bought from the TRS member in a reasonable amount of time. If the seller has not shipped your part(s) yet, the only prudent thing for him to do would be to refund your money along with an apology.

I agree.. Stuff happens.. But be a man and admit it. Most people understand things happen, but how can you understand if the seller doesn't say "hey look man, I screwed up. I've been busy- I'll get it shipped tomorrow"

Agreed. Paypal takes a couple of weeks to get your money back to you if there's an issue, but at least it gets back to you.

sorry to jack the thread but what do you reckon somebody should do if they sold a part and the other party tells you they sent the check but you never receive it and you let them know that you didnt and they dont send another?
