Gen2 to Gen1 headlight swap

Has anybody tried fitting 5x7 (H6054) sealed beams in place of the stock Gen 2 headlights? There are some pretty nice 5x7 LED lamps that I've been thinking about.
 
do a front end swap, find a donor vehicle, swap all the front end parts.... fenders, grill, ect... not sure if the hood is the same, but you may need to do that....
 
Yes, Ford did it. Look at the European 1st gen Explorer...

Oh that looks pretty cool! I'll have to see about gathering some info on the Euro models

Because they had different headlight requirements that the composite headlights didn't meet. Those models also had driver adjustable angle headlights. The panel right below the steering column had a switch that could raise or lower the angle of the headlight. (I looked into it a while back.)
