I found a good deal on four 2014 Mustang rims with 80% tread Michelin tires for a good price....

Now for those that have used mustang rims they seem to have roughly 6 inches of back recess - what size spacers will I need for these. I believe somewhere I read one inch or one and a quarter inches for trouble free clearance.

Anyone know a good source for these?

TxDarth:

Anything over ~1/2" resolves most of the issues with centre caps not fitting over the hub.

I went with 1" spacers from Summit as that kept the track the same as Ford intended it.

Note: Truck has Explorer axle in rear which was 1" wider than stock; so just needs 1/2" spacers in back to match. I have been too lazy to pull the axles to press out the current studs in the axles and replace with longer ones, so rear wheels are in a little bit. But no one noticed when they were out before the Mustang wheels/that they are in now, so getting my son's Mustang running before he leaves for university is priority.

Well before you are anyone replied I had already ordered 1 1/4 spacers from eBay. I read on several posts somewhere that several people had used 1 1/4 on the front and 1 inch on the rear. I don't think 1/4 will make a difference but it seemed funny to make the front wider than the rear so used the same on both ends. I got hubcentric for the rear and stud centered for the front, they said the hub centric would not fit the fronts, so we will see. But they both have the 73mm bore for the center.

I finally received my spacers and I installed the Mustang wheels...went with 1 1/4 on all four wheels. I had some 3/4 inch spacers decided to go with the same all the way around - 1 1/4. The new wheels are virtually the same size as the old original wheels and tires but they just look smaller for some reason...

I also picked up a full front carpet from a local pick a part - trying to quiet down the noise from the rubber mat. May add some extra sound mat as well...
