Fueling up?

Talk about sucking when it gets cold... my dad's truck froze up like that in the winter and we had to deal with that in 2 weeks of -40. Shittay, if you will

You have a spider web in your canister vent tube. Find the vent valve, pull the last section of line off, the one that is just open on one end, and then either blow thru it with compressed air, or find a 1/4 in ball bearing and drop it thru. I work for a dealership service dept and this is a VERY common issue especially, right at the start of summer.

Thank you, the truck sat for several months before I got it, and sat for another couple months after that. I'll give it a try as soon as the weather stops sucking outside!

Found the vent tube on the passenger side on top if the canister. It's 3-4 inches long and when I pulled it off it was clean inside. Was this the right tube? Where is the check valve in the filler neck?

Never really had that problem with my Ranger and usually my BIIs are good about taking gas (once in awhile I had to fight it a lil, the bodylift on my choptop helped though).

My dad has an '89 F-350 with dual tanks though an a low profile dump bed on it... you pretty much have to raise the dump body to put fuel in it... and even then there have been times I've had to drive off after putting $0.30 in gas into it because it just wouldn't go. Sometimes pulling the nozzle out slightly will do it, or turning the nozzle sideways, sometimes pulling it out and waiting a second or two will work, but sometimes it just doesn't work.... enough to drive you up a wall when you have a pair of 20 gal tanks on the thing and it gets 8 mpg... kinda hard to drive far when you're sucking fumes...

My truck does it at some stations when i stick the nosel all the way in, if i pull it out a little it will pump fine

Ditto...same thing on my Zuki...they put those rubber splash guards on the pumps in Canada and I've yet to be spared backsloshing due to the guard having to be two inches away from the filler neck...so I just go slow...

i guess i am the only person that knows this.... but you aren't supposed to put the pump on full blast. you are wasting money. its like a sink if you put it on full blast you are getting mostly air. so if you like paying for 50% air and 50% gas lol keep blasting away. but i put mine on the lowest setting i can when filling up. i still get like 20 gallons in my tank in about 5-10 mins. and it will probably fix your shutting off problem

:icon_rofl: no.

Trust me, it doesn't matter how slow or which way I hold the pump or whatever, it still kicks off. My boyfriend and I just went on an 800 mile road trip and we had this issue at every single station we stopped at. We've pumped slow, fast, sideways, halfway in, in between, everything. It's driving us both insane.

As a gas station manager, I'll tell you that is 100% WRONG. :icon_rofl:

The state tests multiple flow rates when the do the weights and measure certification to make sure the dispensers are within spec and have not been tampered with. They also check each grade the dispenser dispenses at different flow rates.

Don't feel bad...I bought some swamp land in Florida that was supposed to be beach front...but at least I can have alligator tail any time...only problem with that is they didn't tell me I had to cook it and eat it...thought it was just kinky sex...so don't believe everything you're told...and clarify it if you can...

I've got the teeth marks to prove that having sex with an alligator isn't all it's cracked up to be...:)
