I posted this in the Misc. electrical and then realized I may get more response here. I have a 1986 ranger 2.9L with dual tanks. The front fuel tank is the only one being used no matter which tank is selected on the switch. The gauge only shows the level of the front tank no matter which tank is selected. There's power to the switch. When I select the rear tank, power goes to the selector valve on the brown wires. When the front tank is selected, there's power to the selector valve on the red wires. If I unplug the selector valve with the truck running, it stays running. I can drive it anywhere with the switch in either position and it runs fine but gas is only used from the front tank. Does anyone have any idea of the problem. I did a search and found others have had similar problems with the in tank fuel pumps, but the truck dies when the bad pump is selected. No help there. Thanks for any suggestions.
