86 ranger 2.9 when I turn key on fuel pump starts as it should but never stops I have changed relay want else could it be have not checked fuel pressure could a pump going bad cause this thanks

When it is running pull the relay. If it stops, the next thing to do is turn the key off, plug the relay back in, and then unplug the computer. Then turn the key to run. If the pump starts and keeps running like it did before, there is a short in the wire from the relay to the computer. If the pump doesn't run with the relay plugged in, but the computer unplugged, you might have a computer problem.

If you get this far and the computer is causing it, then you can take the computer apart and inspect the capacitors. If they are swollen and leaking, replacing those may fix it.
