Hey all. Just in the process of doing the cab swap on my Ranger. 87 cab on a 91 chassis. I thought I recall reading somewhere that the fuel gauge in my 87 won’t jive with the newer style sender? Does anyone have any insight or a link to this info? Keeping the original dash. Thanks in advance. 👍🏻

Yes, problem is that Ford changed over to new gas gauge and in-tank sender in 1989

Up thru 1988 Rangers gauges and senders were
73 ohms Empty
10 ohms Full

1989 and up
16 ohms Empty
158 ohms Full

So Reversed + wider range
There is no "wiring" or electronic method to make these compatible

Pull out your 1987 in tank fuel pump assembly
And pull out the 1991 fuel pump assembly
You will need to pull off the 1987 sender(and 1991 sender) and fit it on to the 1991 assembly so the float shows correct ohm level in the tank

You can also buy new 73-10 ohm fuel senders, universal type, to add in the tank, usually have to drill a hole in the top of the tank, these are made for fuel cells to be used in older Fords

Google: 73-10 ohm fuel sender

Awesome. Thank you so much for this info. That was the thought we were going with, with regards to swapping the senders.
