Fuel cell question

I have a 94 ranger 4.0 auto 4x4, I'm trying to put a fuel cell in the bed cause I am four linking the rear and the fuel tank is in the way, I've built three rock crawlers now and I've picked up this ranger for a good deal with low mileage. I ordered a strong box with a np205 case conversion to put behind the transmission. I'm going to box the frame. I've ordered foa 16" coilovers and I have a set of built axles here already. Dodge Dana 60 front, 5.38 Yukon gears with Yukon spool, chromo inner and outer axles, 14 bolt, 5.38 Yukon gears with Yukon spool, chromo axles, I have the axles trussed for upper triangulated links already. Looking to get a 16 gallon fuel cell but my question is does anybody make one that I can use the stock pickup/pump/sending unit? I've never worked on a fuel injected engine so I figured that would be the best bet is to use the stock stuff. Or if somebody could point me in the right direction for aftermarket stuff so I can still use the fuel gauge. Thanks in advance.
 
I used a aftermarket low pressure pump mounted outside the cell as close to the cell as I could. Routed the lines to a stock frame mounted high pressure pump. The stock high pressure pump came on [afaik] 86/87 rangers and f-150's.
I'm sure other solutions exist.
PS; Don't use russel or other aftermarket AN fittings, you can buy JIC fittings for much cheaper. I got mine at Princess auto, similar to harbor fright.

1989 and up Fords use 16-158 Ohm senders
16 ohms Empty
158 ohms Full

Fuel cells can be ordered with a 0-90ohm sender(GM style), if you added a 16ohm resistor to the sender wire, you would have an accurate Empty, and Full would be just about 3/4 on gauge.

1994 fuel injection will need to run at 40-45psi, and it will have a return line.
So you will need an external fuel pump that can generate the pressure, with a check valve.
I think the 1985-1988 Rangers had an inline fuel pump that would meet those specs, that was the transition period to EFI, they just added the higher pressure pump in the frame rail.


For the whole assembly, pump and sender, best bet would be to look at 1990 to 1997, fuel pump assemblies, I think in '98 they switch to Returnless and 65psi pressure pumps.
Regular cab and extra-cab will have different size gas tanks so different size fuel pump assemblies.
Find the height of of the assemblies then find a fuel cell than can be used

AFAIK 86 was the first year of efi on Rangers.
