Front Fuel Leak 1993 Ranger 4.0 XLT Auto

Well onto page 7 of this long thread, I'm sure it's well worth it, I have done a lot of research... So hopefully not to add anymore confusion....🤪

I think I'll need this type of fitting shown in the top photo, to hook into the original Ford existing quick spring connect fuel line from the new AN hose fitting on the other end, this connection line is located by the inner fender wall area under the hood in the last photo. Hopefully this just might very well be the final piece of the puzzle.

I'm searching the Internet for this- "Ford Spring Lock Female to 6AN Male adapter"

The Existing Ford Quick Disconnect Fuel Line. The opposite end is connected to the new AN fitting on the fuel pressure regulator by the fuel rail.

Honestly, if I wasn’t mating to factory line anywhere I’d eliminate that ā€œquick disconnectā€. They aren’t really quick to disconnect anyway. They aren’t even a valved fitting and the only reason to keep them would be to mate to factory lines. If you really wanted a disconnect there, I’d put an AN union.

I use different degree fittings as I need for clearance. Trying to come off the top of my fuel tank in my green Ranger required the shortest quick connect I could find (Nitrous Express, I’d have to look up the part number), and the tightest 90 I could find (Speedflow). I was still worried about catching it with the bed so I made a thing up to protect it. Factory used a short 90 quick connect that doesn’t seem to exist in the AN world.

My Choptop didn’t need any of that, so your mileage may vary. I do have an extra set and I kept the labels in my box of assorted AN stuff in case I need it again.

They really aren't that quick to disconnect, I can totally agree. šŸ’© I'll look into the AN union too, thanks for that info.

Im gonna go with the AN kit bottom pic -
https://a.co/d/098NETW0 I'm think im gonna have to return the Dorman kit now, I may hold onto to the Dorman kit to get some ideas

I'm wondering how to join the other end of the AN line to the stock ford fuel spring disconnect fitting below. Anyone have any idea? I'm sure I'll figure it out. But it's good to get some ideas from you guys.

So, that appears to be the rubber line stuff, which I’ve heard is prone to pinholes and rot when exposed to ethanol. I went with PTFE line so I wouldn’t have to worry. One thing I learned with the PTFE line was that external nylon braided stuff was a pain to work with, it had to be trimmed back to get the fitting to work right. Looks nice, but the plain stainless braided is easier to work with.

I bought all of my line and fittings from Summit Racing so I’m not really sure what to suggest for buying elsewhere. Summit is like an hour and a half from me and shipping is super fast when I go that route. So it’s what I do, lol

@lil_Blue_Ford Hey man thanks for that critical info on the fuel line. I just purchased PTFE. Good call and looking out. Who needs to do this shit all over again. One and Done I bought this 5/16 kit by evil energy on Amazon $50. The company has good reviews.

The Dorman Kit, I'm not sure how this would interface with the AN fittings now. As it probably won't.

Go with what @lil_Blue_Ford is telling you on all this. He has done it a lot. I will interject that these are the type of fittings you will find at the fuel tank, in the proper size, of course.

I have done it a bit, lol. I have notes and stuff just things haven’t gotten organized so everything is scattered. Need to get my shop finished up and get stuff organized in the house but it all takes time that I haven’t been able to spare lately. Only so much of me to go around because of health issues. I’m chipping away at it all though.

@lil_Blue_Ford @Curious Hound Summit doesn't have the full kits, and purchasing seperate line and the connections are quite pricey. I decided to go with the AN PTFE Kit by Evil Energy. Seems to have good reviews. I'll know when I get it and start making up the lines and connections. That's my last step. Thanks again for all your input.

You are correct, everything is piecemeal from Summit. What I did may not work for everyone but it was relatively convenient for me and easy to find everything I might need in one stop. Actually when I first wandered in there looking to get AN stuff, I had no idea what I needed or anything and the guy at the sales counter was super helpful and even looking stuff up online and pouring through the catalogs with me to figure it all out. I’ve also reached the point where I now buy end fittings in 20-count packs when available. They do also have a lot of more obscure fittings that you may not be able to source on Amazon so I figured I’d put it out there in case you need something you can’t find.

You are probably about 2 months ahead of me. I will be completely redoing my fuel system as part of my V8 swap. I researched it some a while back and decided to "figure it out on the fly" when I get to that part of my project.but I did figure out there is no "kit" that serves the purpose. Everything has to be done piece by piece when you see exactly what you need at each juncture.
