2.3L ('02-'11) How much does the correct coolant matter?

Aluminum, plastic, cast iron, rubber and maybe brass comprise all cooling systems. Most things run around 200*. I don't see why one automaker requires so many flavors. :dntknw:

I stocked two for Stellantis lol.

Orange and Purple?

I had the old green, specialty green, gold, orange and yellow

Yup, no yellow/gold/orange/light green to decipher.

5 year and 10 year on the jug, MY2012 was the cutoff.

Another update:

Went back this afternoon. They agreed to flush the system again, and refill with the original spec Gold coolant. Should happen next week. That satisfies me, although I'm still worried that they won't get all of the Yellow out of there (HOAT and P-OAT mixed can cause sludging.)

I've learned more about coolants in the last couple of days than I ever thought I would.
Now I'm kind of feeling my OAT's :). Although I might have preferred a good old case of the IAT's.

BTW: Curious Hound, thank you for the advice you gave me earlier, to be patient with the people at the dealership. It looks like they've decided to do the right thing, without much prodding.

Glad it's working out.

Many times we have a negative outlook concerning dealers. I've had my share of bad experiences. The few bad ones give them all a tarnished reputation. But, I'm willing to believe more than 50% are good and want to serve their customers well. It's best to give benefit of the doubt until they remove all doubt one way or the other. Plus, it's easier for a business to give good customer service to a calm and patient customer. If you go in with guns blazing, they will naturally and understandingly get defensive and everything goes downhill from there.
