Front 60 out of a burned truck?

looks like you will need to change some seals and u-joints,but it's a good deal.the info from the front tag makes sense, but the rear one is a bit off-are you sure about the numbers?and it would have to be an 04,as the 05 has coils in the front.

Pretty sure about them,I gotta go back Thursday, ill look again.
So you think the front is a 60 not a 50?

if it's from an '04,definitely.hard to tell from the pics, and i didn't research the bom,but the 50 wasn't used in 04.are you certain the rear and front are from the same truck?i'm asking because of the numbers on the tags-the first number is the gear ratio;3.73 for the front makes sense, most had this from the factory.rear should be the same, but you have 3.5 which wasn't used in these diffs(and doesn't match the front)although 3.54 was used,so i'm wondering if you have parts from two different trucks.that,or the tags were misread, which is very easy to have happen in those conditions.edit-second look shows the rear is 3.54,definitely not the same as front.cant find bom's from later than '99 for the front, but it doesn't match d50,so it must be a 60.

Going back tomm for a last look before I commit to them.
Ill pull the tag off both so I can read them better.I know the rear has another tag that states use Syn. oil only.
Thanks for your help.

that's on all the newer axles....they all seem to require synthetic oil for warranty these days.

The tag got read wrong. It does have 3.73 with limited slip in rear. He just missed the first 3.

:icon_thumby: It was upside down...lol.
Got the rear,T-case with C6 home yesterday its 3.73 ls.
It has vented and slotted rotors on it,my son's 250 doesnt.:icon_confused:
Going to pick up the front first of the week, they should have the engine off the frame so my trailer can haul it.

Now comes the hard part do I rip everything out of my 85 and start over....or do I sell it and start from scratch.Common sence tells my to scrap the big bell housing C6 and forget about a 460,find a 302/351 C6 and keep my 302 in the truck (a c4 and 1350 are not going to play well with 60's running 44's).

:dunno:

smallblock is going to be easier, but those 44s eat up a lot of torque.that's why i took the 4.6 out of the ranger-i loved the engine but it couldn't keep up with the boggers.40" swampers,it did fine.44s needed the 460.

Kinda what i was thinking, all the 85 really needs is a 44 under the front to be a great trail truck. The 28 is the weak link at the moment.
I'am going to get back on it next week and finish all the small stuff that needs to be done, run it till the 28 breaks and go from there.
