the deer here are getting to be a real problem,as i see they are elswhere too.it's not unusual to count 200 on the 95km stretch of highway from skidegate to masset, and i've hit 3 so far this year(no damage to the truck)but this is a new one.a turboprop airliner was on it's takeoff run from the masset airport when a deer ran onto the runway and into the left side prop.the deer was instantly cut in half, with the front half being thrown over the plane, the back half slammed to the ground.the takeoff was aborted, and no passengers were hurt, but the plane needed to have an engine and propeller replaced before it could take off.:shok:there is a 15 deer bag limit for hunting right now,but i think they need to increase it.

im moving there! them dare things are tasty!

they are....the deer here are a lot smaller than on the mainland, and real tender and tasty.just getting tired of tenderising them with my truck.

State farm here gives us those deer whistles. They should give you guys complimentary Roo-bars.

thats crazy! come-on now wat would you really say if you saw a deer get cut inhalf by a plane!?!

i was thinking along the same lines:headbang:theres at least 15 cars a year totalled from hitting deer here, which doesn't sound like a lot until you consider the population-4300 for the whole island chain.

"Silence. Then: Oh my God - were you on the ground?"

"No, baby - Santa was making one last run..."

Here's your sign. :icon_rofl:

maybe night hunting would also be a good idea with the increased bag limit

99% of the time it is the stupid humans fault. If the roads are dark you don't need to be going above the speed limit and you don't talk on a cell phone and you just need to concentrate with your eyes wide open and stop trying to change that radio station or swap out a CD. This is also how humans get hit by cars trying to cross the road or walking along a dark road!!

I am so tired of seeing people behind me or in front of me or on the sides of me while we are driving ANYWHERE....and see stupid people texting, talking on the cell phone....watching a movie in the front seats of a vehicle or even READING A FRICKING NEWSPAPER while they are driving!!!! AHHHHHHH!!! Yes!!! I have seen several drivers reading a newspaper as they drove somewhere!!!!

I have wildlife all over my property and every once in awhile some idiot who does not live in my area comes by at 60 mph in a 25 mph zone. There is one way in and out of my neighbourhood and signs are posted everywhere about the speed limit and the wildlife entering the road. Humans are too stupid to read???

valid points, but that's not neccesarilly what's happenning here.it mostly comes down to sheer volume of deer.the highway has a 90kmh speed limit, and slowing down too much isn't a very good option as it would take forever to get anywhere.most of the deer grazing at the side of the road just carry on with what they are doing-but you still keep an eye on them.the problem ones are those that jump out of the trees at the side of the road(most of the highway is a corridor with forest-dense haida qwaii forest-on either side)to cross the highway at full gallop.by the time you react you've already driven over them.as for the pilot of the airplane,i don't think he was reading a newspaper at the time.

LOL. I would love a 15 head limit on deer. Your lucky to bag two in FL or TN. Im on the next plane.........nvm, boat.

We kill them because they damage crops....... if your a farmer, just fire away.

Those deer whistles are BS, they spook deer into the road more often than not, Kentucky Farm Beureau has them........ but if you ask about them, they go....... uhm you don't really want one, we call them deer calls.

I need to go where you live. I got ammo to shot and a range drop scope for those extra long shots. :D
