frickin deer.

When I was up there in '81 it was 12 deer/year. They better up 3 more to 18/year. IIRC, deer dressed were ~30/40 lbs.

99% of the time it is the stupid humans fault. If the roads are dark you don't need to be going above the speed limit and you don't talk on a cell phone and you just need to concentrate with your eyes wide open and stop trying to change that radio station or swap out a CD. This is also how humans get hit by cars trying to cross the road or walking along a dark road!!

I am so tired of seeing people behind me or in front of me or on the sides of me while we are driving ANYWHERE....and see stupid people texting, talking on the cell phone....watching a movie in the front seats of a vehicle or even READING A FRICKING NEWSPAPER while they are driving!!!! AHHHHHHH!!! Yes!!! I have seen several drivers reading a newspaper as they drove somewhere!!!!

I have wildlife all over my property and every once in awhile some idiot who does not live in my area comes by at 60 mph in a 25 mph zone. There is one way in and out of my neighbourhood and signs are posted everywhere about the speed limit and the wildlife entering the road. Humans are too stupid to read???

Most of the time here is a little thing called "the rut" in the fall, it is when they get twitterpated. A buck will charge almost anything that gets between him and his doe, be it another buck or a semi... they fear nothing. Does are just about as goofy too. During the summer you might see 1 or 2 on the shoulder on your way to Omaha (about 60 miles) During the rut, 20-30 one way is the norm.

The one I hit ran beside my truck for awhile (as it was skidding to a stop) before it turned in front of me and caught my bumper.

My brother was stopped at a stopsign and had one ram into the side of his pickup, it dropped and twitched for awhile, then got up and ran away. Didn't hurt the truck at all.

What kind of deer was that? I swear the 9ptr whitetail I got a couple years ago was over 200lbs on the hoof as I was dragging him to the truck. Good old cornfed venison.

Darn, never had that happen here, of course our deer are only like the size of a medium dog....lol Plus...we have 1,190 acres of property and a river runs behind our houses. So....it is all protected and no hunting aloud. But I need to control some of the speeders in theis area.....at night I am going to put out some spike sticks and see how many speeders I can get...lol

ya,that's pretty close.they are a little bigger than a large dog....some a bit bigger.there have always been lots here(used to be counting 100 on the highway between skidegate and masset was the norm)but this year they have exploded for some reason.as stated in a previous post, this year we are counting as many as 200.theres not much between the two ends of the island to look at but trees,so counting deer keeps the kids occupied.:icon_thumby:

I bet the outside of that plane was NASTY!

i didn't see it myself, but the wife did(she works at the airport gift shop)apperantly it was pretty messy.nearly $1 million in damage.

uh I totally disagree with you on this point. Those MF's are in my yard all year round. I hit one going 30 through a school zone last year and it caused $1200 in damage. Every fall when they're in the rut, I worry about my kids just freaking walking to their cars so they don't get gored. They ain't Bambi and there aren't enough natural predators to keep their population in controll - at least where I am. I live in the middle of a small city too.

"Silence. Then: Oh my God - were you on the ground?"

"No, baby - Santa was making one last run..."

Here's your sign. :icon_rofl:

the wife was just telling me that as the plane was leaving the runway, eagles and ravens swarmed the runway, cleaning up the mess.haida gwaii cleanup crew.

We kill them because they damage crops....... if your a farmer, just fire away.

Those deer whistles are BS, they spook deer into the road more often than not, Kentucky Farm Beureau has them........ but if you ask about them, they go....... uhm you don't really want one, we call them deer calls.

Frank

i dont kill deer because they distroy crops. i kil them because im FUKIN HUNGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thefinger:

FWIW, deer whistles don't do anything... they just make people think they actually help, and that they're invincible to running into deer.

Haha I got a set for a dollar and put them on my motorcycle after having a deer run INTO ME. Yes, it hit me. I haven't had any close calls since, but I think that's because I'm slightly paranoid about it now.

Haha yeah, my dad hit a deer on his motorcycle too, but he managed to keep it upright and going, but it bent the front forks and part of the front end.
