four wheeling banned in us?

We are invovled big time. All the wheelin clubs do massive clean-ups all summer and have for years and the people who complain dont do a dam thing but burn gas on the way to their green whining meetings. Inform yourself and stay informed, get involved there is power in numbers.:icon_thumby:

When and where are these meetings? I would probably go when I can.

so i was in walmart when i seen like 5 magazines that say "will off roading be banned in us". anyone else see this? i even seen it in a dirt bike mag. this is crazy there gonna close everything :bawling: what does everyone think about this?

No way they can close offroading in the US. There is still private 4x4 all over the US, and many more would open if they closed some popular trails.

well with obama in office there gonna kill everything good
Are you one of those idiots who said that when Obama got elected hes going to take our guns away? Im so sick of hearing people just automatically revert their arguments to "Well with Obama in office..." How long has he been president and we can still buy guns and still have have our guns we did 4 years ago?

yea we need to do something and put a stop to this before we have no place to go. even people that hunt and fish wont be able to use public land.

Your telling me the 4x4 mags talked about banning hunting from the US too? Seriously listen to yourself....

What happens every where is that we are supposed to tread light. Most of us to but I see a lot of idiots who do not. I have asked riders to keep off no entry areas that are marked in several places, and they just laugh and say 'The woods will recover'....it will not. I have seen riders run over nesting sea turtles on our beaches here in Florida and I have seen idiots do the same to the gopher turtle habitats as well. I have seen campers start fires where there are 'No Fires' signs posted all over the place. So...it is up to all of us to do the right thing and take care of our lands. If we can follow the rules we can then get to ride on the places we all love and will take care of as well.

No but if the land is closed no one is gonna be going on it if it belongs to the us forest service

now you americans will know how canada feels haha

lol newfoundland dont have any trails. i shouldve rephrased that to say now you know how newfoundlanders feel lol

it just goes to show you that we all have to make an effort to take care of what we have. You can't go making new trails and tearing up everything, you got to stick to the path and clean up after yourselves. No Beer drinking and gun toting, shooting at every sign you see. Show respect for every other nature user and you'll get it in return. There have been to many A-holes that have ruined it for the rest of us and given the sport a bad name.

Travel only in areas open to four-wheel drive vehicles.
For your safety, travel straight up or down hills.
Drive over, not around obstacles to avoid widening the trail.
Straddle ruts, gullies, and washouts even if they are wider than your vehicle.
Cross streams only at designated fording points, where the road crosses the stream.
When possible, avoid mud. In soft terrain, go easy on the gas to avoid wheel spin, which can cause rutting.
Don’t turn around on narrow roads, steep terrain, or unstable ground. Back up until you find a safe place to turn around.
Stop frequently and scout ahead on foot. To help with traction, balance your load and lower tire pressure to where you see a bulge (typically not less than 20 pounds).
Know where the differential or the lowest point on your vehicle is. This will help in negotiating terrain and prevent vehicle damage resulting in oil and fluid spills on the trail.
Maintain a reasonable distance between vehicles.
Comply with all signs and respect barriers.
Travel with a group of two or more vehicles. Driving solo can leave you vulnerable if you have an accident or breakdown. Designate meeting areas in case of separation.
Choose the appropriate winch for your vehicle size.
Attach towing cable, tree strap, or chain as low as possible to the object being winched. Let the winch do the work; never drive the winch.
When winching always inspect your equipment, use the right winch for the situation, find a good secure anchor, and never winch with less than five wraps of wire rope around the drum.
When using a tree as an anchor, use a wide tree strap to avoid damaging the trunk of the tree.
Don’t mix driving with alcohol or drugs.

EDUCATE YOURSELF AND ABOVE ALL RESPECT THE RIGHTS OF OTHERS!
If more people had done this in the past we would not be in this leaky boat together.

NIce try guys, tellico is reeopened. Obama can fawk with health care, social security, and food stamps, he can run us into socialism and turn the us Islam. Everyone will sit on their complacent lazy asses and not do a fawking thing about it. But the rednecks will rise up if he messes with 4 wheeling or guns. No worries.

It's not just off roading and such. Just got my latest issure of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords - Right on the cover in 1" high letters it says "Warning! Dan government officials ban performance?" Haven't got into the article yet. Probably come back all PO'd.

I'm pretty sure tellico is closed I live 5 mins from it. And I'm not a fan about all the other things he is doing but it has nothing to do with 4 wheeling.

That sucks... I was hoping to move out west in a few years to have some open land to play in.

All the land around here is not off-road friendly anymore. I think there's one place we can go where they won't kick you out or arrest you... most of the time. Personally, I'm not going to drive a legit off-road rig all the way to where that place is.

Yes they can and will take away the land we all wheel on. They are doing it everywere in the US. Most people have sat back for years and said they can't, that is our right to be on that land. The way I feel is like life in general you have to earn the right. Our motorsports goup and many more here in the Northwest have been working with D.N.R. to clean up the junk and the damage in the woods. We are now putting down lines for trails here cause we worked so hard to show the very people that are trying to shut down the trails that some of us that wheel, hunt or just camp really care about and where the future of this sport is going. Please for the sake of the sport get involved with your local groups and also pay attention on who you vote for. It does help having the right person in your local gov. No matter what party you are for they all like and hate different aspects of the outdoors. Getting involved does work we are getting trails here that have been illegal for about 20 or so years.

hmm nothing is closed here in north dakota,
