Ford CEO: Need Better Quality

No, the EB will pry hit 20 empty. But that waa kinda my point. Power means fuel consumption lol.

Maybe. The 2.3 in the Ranger gets about 23 - 24 but it’s probably working harder than the 3.5 in a slightly bigger F150.

Have they listed anything specific that they feel needs correcting, or was it more of a general statement?

CMOS

They did but i can't tell you what the complaints were. I just don't remember.

My 2016 2.0 EcoBoost AWD averaged 27.3 mpg round trip to my daughter's house near Washington, DC- going 75-80 on the highway and then in the worst city driving I've ever seen.

I test drove all three of the f150 engines last year and at highway speeds here, 75-80, i only got in the high teens. I was really bummed because i really like the f150s and wanted the good gas mileage. All my wife's brothers and step dad have them but all four say they only get impressive gas mileage if they drove at 72mph. They said when you get up to 80, it drops significantly.

For her step dad, driving 72 doesnt bother him but i want to get across texas in one day, ha ha ha.

The only other issue I recall being with the 2.7 and the oil pan?

My buddy had that one done on his 2.7 but besides that and a bad turn signal switch and a heating element in the driver's seat, it's been a great truck. I think his is a '15. It was whooped on pretty hard on the reservation before he got it, so you KNOW it's been "tested"........

What ecoboost?

Our 2.3 Bronco is mid 20's with 4.46 gears.

My brothers '14 3.5 EB F-150 gets 21-22 with factory 4.10's.

One of my coworkers has a 2.7 and he’s never had a problem with it. But he is also one of those guys to doesn’t fix things until it’s broke. He’ll run it until he can’t or it fails a state inspection.

If guys get mid 20's driving in the NH hills, how are you folks in flat, warm Texas getting lousy mileage? Does your gas have more alcohol than our 10%?

We have 20+mph wind everyday of the year, almost. And lots of days at 30mph.

I don't know why gas mileage is so terrible here except the wind killing it. All the really aero cars get excellent mileage

Probably speed. It takes a lot more fuel to go a little faster.

This. The highest speeds I’ve ever driven, legally, have been in Texas with the 75 and 80 mph speed limits I saw.

The 3.5. I kinda forget about all the other variants of it

We do have 80mph highways in some areas and 75 is very common. We even have an 85mph area too, just for fun

The only thing I found annoying was the seemingly constant speeding up and slowing down between towns. We did a lot of that on the way down to Humble and on the way home.
