the cross pin finally came out and I was able to get the c clip out without too much of a fuss but now that the shaft is out, the seal doesn't want to come out. I think I got the rubber piece out and all that's there is the metal ring, will a dremel work to cut it out, or is there another way to do it?

I would not dremel it out unless your going to replace the bearing, and if you are going to replace the bearing you can "rent" a bearing puller and slide hammer at the auto parts chain stores and snatch ten both out in a few minutes.

You really don't want pieces of metal and dremel cut off tool bits in the axle tube/bearing.

I am replacing the bearing and the slide hammer is coming tomorrow. Can i hook behind the bearing and pull both out at the same time or should I try and hook the seal first?

That will probably work fine.

If you were only changing the seal, you can use the axle shaft to pull the seal out. What you do is hook the end that would go into the diff and have the c clip on it under the seal as far as you can, making sure to not hook the bearing as well, then pry against the end of the tube with the shaft and it'll pop it out

not all slide hammer tools are created equal, I have broken the cheap ones then had success with a name brand.
as stated grinding is not advised, but chisels or pry bars are ok.
since it's already fighting you, try one at a time. they can be stubborn.

Last couple I pulled, I had to run a bead of weld in the bearing to get it out even with a slide hammer. I have a piece of welding blanket that I stuff in the axle tube to keep all the metal bits out of the diff. They can be a pain sometimes.

Last one I did was in a campground in Colorado with minimal tools. I only had to replace the seal. I think I got the old one out with a flex-head prybar.

I heat a section of the race up with a torch then popped it with a pry bar to shrink the diameter and get it out. This was after I used a puller and pulled out half the bearing in pieces...
