2) Not drive slow enough to impede traffic badly to cause an insane amount of tailgaters
3) Perhaps just taking care of it in the best way by LETTING THEM GET BY YOU! You are not the ultimate decider of who's right and wrong on the public roadway!

It sems that where ever you go there is some idiot who will get behind you and tailgate you. I have had tailgaters in 20 mph school zones. I have seen people tailgating right behind a car in a school zone and have kids walk right accross trafic and heard the slam on the brakes and sometimes crunch of metal to metal. That just scares me for the kids who are supposed to feel safe in their school area.
I have been in the slow lane doing 65 (the speed limit) and have had some tailgater on my butt. So it does not matter where you are when this happens.

There is ALWAYS some moron who seems to need to get whereever he is going alot faster then what you are doing. The funny thing is people will pass on a highway on turns and shoulders and pass multiple people and then when we get to a small town at a light he is like 4 cars ahead at the same light i'm at and nearly killed himself 1-3 times to get 4 car lengths ahead of me....

As far as your comment about deciding who is wrong or right on "the public roadway" please also keep in mind that your family is also on said "public roadway" with these idiots that do the tailgating. How would feel if someone in your family was injured or killed because someone else did not want to abide by the rules and drive the way they do?

The route I drive back and forth to work twice a day five days a week goes through THREE school zones, I do exactly 20mph through them and people seem to think it's ok to fly up on my rear bumper and even try to pass me. For why?

The same people who complain about tailgaters are the ones passing someone on a 4 lane at a snail's pace as cars pack up behind. Trust me, passing someone in a timely fashion (even if you go over the speed limit) is much safer than have cars jammed up side by side. Plus slower traffic is supposed to stay right.

I really don't care enough about this to really write anymore. Just go ahead and spray shit at cars behind you following too close. It won't be me.

So you are saying that when I'm doing 75 (actually 10 OVER the limit) on a major highway, coming up on a ramp that has a suggested speed of 45 (the yellow speed signs), and some joker in an Explorer flys up on my tailgate close enough that I can't see the HOOD(!!!!!) talking on her cell phone that I'm somehow at fault for impeding traffic.

I figure by the time I can't see the hood on an explorer that vehicles is less than 6 inches off my bumper.

Wanna explain that to me? I'm all now.

Your Argument seems sound to you but your logic baffles me still...

You can't honestly say you have ever been on the road and been speeding at 5 - 10 over and never had someone fly up on your ass and sit there flashing his high beams, honking, attempting to pass. I will agree that I would much rather slow down and pull over and let him by but when there is a sheer drop off right next to me I would rather not because if he passes me and either f**ks up or hits oncoming traffic the only place I can go is over the cliff... I don't like going off cliffs.

I drive the speed limit and have a-holes ride me all the time, especially chevys seem to think its ok to ride my ass then flick on their high beams and then lightforces right in my F**KING FACE! To them when they pass I speed up to stay close but not tailgate then leave my lights on until they get off the road.... I have no patients for jackasses and i don't believe they should be on the road if they drive like that. And blind other people that may have a hard enough time seeing at night.

Meh... its only a few people that do it... The problem is not the normal trucks is the big jacked up shiny ones. There are alot of them around here and the lights in the grille or on the bumper shine directly into my cab and then it reflects off of the windshield so I am staring at a blinding blue windshield instead of the road and when you have 2,000lb animals that wander across the road it is NOT ok to not be able to see.

I retaliate only to maybe 2 or 3 guys a year, because most just realize that they still have their lights on when I flash my cargo light.

I don't know sometimes its just nice to make an ass holes life hell for a few minutes.

Yep, last year we had huge flooding and I was on a particular 2 lane highway, portions of it had water on one lane or the other, sometimes this water was probably close to 12", in some parts it was over both lanes. It was early morning and dark. Some asshole got so far up my ass I couldn't even see their head lights. I slowed down to like 15mph, and of course like an idiot, they passed me and continued down the road.

I just drive around with my ball hitch on sticking out about a foot, and no it doesnt block my back plate. I pray for the day some uninsured "minority" slams into the back of it so i can engage 4x4 and pull his front end all to shit. Nothing says backoff like a hitch through the condenser,radiator,grill, and maybe trans cooler. Now if it holds for some reason, hes going for a ride. If it werent for idiots driving so close there would be alot less wrecks. Alot!

an "uninsured minority" did a hit an run on my truck 12/24/04, turns out he lived a block away from the scene of the crime, had to replace, hood, pass fender, rim, and bent the frame a little, was all fixed mechanicaly and new fender,hood for 1700$ insurence wouldn't pay tho and we cant arest the guy cause the imigrente truck aint registered and plates are stolen -_-, hes lucky i was in the passenger seat bleeding(no seat belt) or id of killed him. need to close the border. this is why im gettin outa this state.
