I have a 98 Ranger with a 4r44e trans w/ o/d button on column. I have been wondering after many reverse to drive and then overshooting reverse ending up hitting park. I was wondering if it is possible to convert to a floor shifter with button on the shifter or even a button on the dash to activate o/d? please help i am lost>>>>

My buddy put in a B&M Megashifter in his '98 4.0 auto 4x4. I honestly don't know if he had a button on the T-handle or not, but I could probably find out how he took care of it(if he even had a OD button). I'm used to a StarShifter...mega and star are completely different operating shifters. lol....i had a hell of a time driving it. Thank goodness he converted to manual!

i appreciate your help and if anyone has more info on this please let me know<

b&m makes a shifter handle to go on all there shifters that has a button to control whatever you want, linelock, nos, o/d, ect.

yeah that is what i was talking about for the button, wondering though if anyone has a wiring diagram for the o/d system on the 4r44e?

All of the factory shifters that I have been around (including the factory one in my Ranger) use the button as a safety so the shifter can't be bumped into different gears. On mine you can go into some (I think you can go D 2 1 but not vice versa)

I always push the button when I shift, so it always goes where I want it to, so I am not really for sure about where can put it without pushing the button.
