when you guys swap in the explorer 8.8 where do you get the new spring seats for 3.25 axle tube? or do you cut the stock ones off real carefully and reuse them?

Yo,
Some people reuse them, but new ones are pretty cheap and avaliable at almost any 4x4 shop.

i would prefer new, but every 4x4 shop i call or see on the internet say they dont have anything bigger then 3", im about to get 3" ones and get the grinder out lol.

They build their stuff to be the shit...

dude, just call camper bobs, they stock that shit, or can order it for u lickity split

camper bobs 4x4 specialty center, kinda the mecca for truck guys in our area, there on rt 38 in lumberton

oh hell ya, should cost u no more then 30, should be able to get what that kit has for like 50

I've got a question related to the 31 spline. Sorry for threadjacking. When doing this swap are you guys fabbing your own shock mounts or are there places to get some?

You can cut the ones off the old axle if you want, I just fabbed my own as I don't like anything hanging below the axle tubes like the stock set up.

The exploder 8.8 i got had a nifty towing package. The shocks mounted on the leaf spring retainer plate dealy. (**** technical terms)

I ended up fabbing some shock mounts by taking some 1.5" square tube, cutting it down to two 4.5" chunks. I then drilled a whole through one side and ran a 4.5" long 7/16th bolt through. I then used the handy dandy grinder to grind the other end to meet the curves of the axle tube and burned it home. Red neck as hell but it gets the job done. A hell of a lot better then trying to use some hacked off OE shock mounts.

Edit: You can also use square tube for perches. The article can be found in the tech lybarry.
