Yup I'm getting there, I have most of the stuff now. Still need to rebuild the axles and graduate college.

Anyways, I've been having problems with it running. Last few weeks its been getting worse, when cruising at in 5th gear and slightly accelerate it wants to start hesitating. Its kind of hard to describe, it wants to start sputtering and bucking?:what: the more gas I give it the worse it gets. It does it more when its at operating temp but also does it when its cold. Not sure if its fuel or ignition related. Anyone have opinions?

Even though mine is carbed, it has been doing the exact same thing the past few weeks when mine gets to temperature and when I hit 4th gear and try to give it gas, just has no go anymore.

how old is your coil pack?

edit: Btw thanks for a great build thread. hopefully by the middle of november my truck will be done with pretty much the same set you are running. this thread is full of great info.

That's a good question. The previous owner took excellent care of it and regularly had it maintained at the dealer. So it could be original or as little as 3 years old.

Could low fuel pressure have anything to do with it? The pump has been sounding....well....odd last few months

yea if the pump isnt keeping your pressure up but it could be it. kinda weird tho most of the time fuel pump just shits out. I cant think of a time that i ever say one that worked but didnt build enough pressure when i worked at the dealership

edit: isnt there a test for the coil packs?
 
Well. The noise it makes at times when key on priming is a gurgling sound. Doesn't do it all the time though

Mine has sounded like that for years. lol


Mine used run like dog shit when ever it rained or got humid or crossed water. Turns out it was a couple of shitty plug wires, and then the coil pack had a burnt socket on the cyl 5 connection

I just deleted the two cats and it still has the same problem. But, it does sound better.:icon_thumby:

I was thinking that this morning on the way to work.
I'm going to replace the filter and go from there. But first I need to clean all the 2" of caked on mud out of the frame rails. And run some Lucas injector cleaner and see how it goes. But with my short cash flow lately its going to take some time to figure this out.

Reading up on why my tbird does the samething, they said it could be an injector hanging up or open all the time because of it going bad or the computer needing replaced.

Best thing to do is take a screw driver and put it up to each injector and listen for the clicking of the opening and closing.
