Escorts 2nd SAS

How about you tighten the nuts to the tightness you want, drill a small hole through the nut and bolt and put and cotter pin through it.l, basically like what a TRE is like.

Can you post a pic of you pointing at which jam nut your having trouble with?

And a pic of your entire steering(only so I don't have to backread your 200pg thread)

I'm pretty sure I know what the issue is.

Its not the jam he is having issue with. Its the bolts going through the rod end and knuckle.

I use all metal locknuts and tighten the shit out of them, then take a center punch to the exposed thread on the bolt to "stake" it in place.

Here is what I'm talking about, its not the jam nut, but the bolt that goes through the knuckle. I'm going to try the double nut tacked together.

It's not ovaled buts its not a tight fit either.

Maybe bunp up a size in bolts/ hiems and drill the knuckle to match?

There isn't enough of the knuckle left to drill to the next size.

I vote this

Mine loosens becuase I reamed out the OEM tapered hole. Its not prefectly square so the bolt can wiggle. Well, until I tacked them.

I have an opportunity to buy a set of axles from a 2000 dodge 1500, truck was totaled and he says make an offer for both axles. Is it worth it? I know nothing of what axles are in those trucks.

I know they are unit bearing and CAD.
Look up after market parts. Like lockers and gears. See what the prices are. Compare them to a Ford 44.
There are a LOT of 94-02 1500 Dodges out there...

I'm checking with a buddy of mine that is a master is axle tech lol. If he says no, I'd say listen to him for whatever reason.

I'm assuming it's the d44 front?

Unless they are stupid cheap, I think I'd wait and just go a Ford HP D44 with real lockouts, etc.
a lot of Dodge stuff is weird, you gotta remember that.

Not worth it.

Yup, solely due to the fact it has CAD.

...unless they make a cable kit for it like they do on jeeps.

I agree. They do have a cable kit for it though. All of my 94-02 Diesel friends run the cable override.

It does have 4 link brackets and coil buckets....

On a side note, I dont ever see people swapping those axles into wheelin rigs...

You should buy mine :icon_thumby:
