How much would it be to get a shop to plug the leak? Also would a junkyard radiator from a explorer work? The reason I ask about the explorer is that I pulled a three core radiator from a 91' to throw in my truck. It fit with a little massaging on the fan shroud mounting. The old radiator was so clogged that there wasn't any amount of acid flush that would clear it.

The radiator shop wants $80 just to replace the tank and it still might leak. Junkyard wants $45 for one that is used and might leak. Found one on eBay for $48 shipped. I haven't decided on what to do yet. Don't really have the cash right now for a new one.

i got a radiator from a JY once, and i lucked out. every other time i use 1800radiator (their quality has went WAY down recently), or i use Complete Radiator Repair in Memphis.

so will the 2.3 one cool properly? is it as "big" as the other?

Yes they are the same size but the 2.3 has one tank that is bigger than the4.0

Good news I think. My brother has a radiator for me. It's out of a 80's cutluss. It a little bigger than stock but it has the inlet and outlet on the correct sides and is a two row. Giving it to me for free if it will work. It's the same height but is 5" longer so hopefully I can make it work.

I just measured the truck, the opening in the radiator support is a little over 4" wider than the stock radiator so if the one he has will work then it should just be a drop in and go, with a little modification for mounting.

Yep. Got it at the take a part place here. It only cost me $19. I had to change the front flange to the smaller one. It came off a 2002 ranger. Took it for a drive and finally no more driveline vibrations.
